sinampalukan nights @ the love nest

sweet november

new york in queens not in cubao - thanksgiving greetings to one and all, november 2008 is by far the best month this year - for me, let me tell you why...

first, a historic event just happened for all the world to witness, america just elected the first black president, it wasn't easy getting here to say the least and it won't be smooth sailing as well, now that it has, but the idea prevailed, it was a dream no more and hope for everyone won over fear and cynicism.

secondly and this is as biased an opinion as can be - admittedly, some members in this band of brothers, the new york chapter of the beta sigma fraternity got together for three straight weekends - "sabado nights jug-a-lug", maybe scenes of scorpio nights even, for some couples (who knows what happens afterwards and who cares?!?...)

sabado nights jug trilogy - "the 15th" at casa Stamaria, "goat together" at casa Gomez and "sinampalukan nights" at the love nest of Mangie and Malou.

the 15th

the first 'sabado night jug' was the twin birthday celebrations of brods FLOYD & JAMES, this jug a lug happened at new york's finest favorite tambayan somewhere in woodhaven, canuck brod 'the hunk' MANGIE with queens new found sis and 'babe' MALOU graced us with their presence (we must mention that we met this lab team at NILO'S crib when TOTO from manila east visited in october)

the drinks were enough to quench a betans thirst, the refreshing sips of corona beer and the smooth E&J brandy shots enough to do the job of giving instant relief to ones chill and arthritis prone bones, gout for some (sad but true) from an unusual winter breeze this autumn season. the food deliciously prepared by birthday brod JAMES inspired by his true calling and fresh from a recent cooking demo with martha stewart, better half NAOMI provided the real inspiration with her generosity having the brods over for special occasions like these (just like every brods better halves)

at the celebration i caught up with 'the man' gp VIC, 'oki doki dok' MER, kumbrodreng JAMES MADDUMA and RENNIE whose recent achievement is truly an inspiration for me to go on and continue to strive...(nagpupugay sa'yo utol)

brods better halves, Rose, Renee, Dolly and Tess were chatting the night away and the betan children having fun in their own way.

a close to perfect a night or perfection this celebration was, ending with a drizzle as ominous as can be.

itutuloy...

(andito na ako sa subway stop ko sa brooklyn - time check 1.50am)

balitang new york

the bayanihan project

The Bayanihan Project is an idea with a broad agenda, a volunteer program, an experience, a movement for peace and prosperity in the Philippines.  Through this truly unique Philippine tradition of mutual exchange, we can help make better lives, one family at a time, one community at a time.

The challenge in this century is to re-discover this tradition and by enlightening hearts and minds of men and women this generation, the bayanihan spirit shall be alive and relevant.

Brotherhood, Integrity, Loyalty, Equality and Service are the core values that will fuel our hope and guide this movement in facing the challenges that we continue to experience today as a people.

The project aims to be a humble contribution to the development and progress of the environmental, social, economic, civic and political structures in the Philippines.

With the bayanihan spirit in mind, we will strive to promote a deeper understanding of our culture, history and traditions.  We will achieve this through effective and efficient use of a combination among different tools of communication.

The Bayanihan Project is dedicated to inform, educate and inspire Filipinos.  We will continue to work hard and reach our potential, develop a greater sense of national pride, fulfillment and responsibility.

The Bayanihan Project will focus on these areas of discipline - arts and humanities; social sciences and public affairs; sciences and technologies, which we believe must be constantly addressed, are of equal importance and an integral part in building a nation.

The Bayanihan Project, its members individual initiative and its collective action in creating and or implementing viable environmental, social, economic, civic and political policies and programs remain essential for achieving a common vision of  a nation with a citizenry that is united, strong and working together towards sustainable democratic development.
